Green Line Ghost
A biker pedals along an unopened Green Line light rail station in downtown St. Paul. When, oh when, will the trains start to carry passengers?

Floyd B. pontificates
Floyd B. Olson was a socialist governor of Minnesota in the 1930s. He's enshrined in this spot on the grounds of the Minnesota State Capitol.

Z is for zoom
Look what happens when you zoom your lens in the middle of an early morning time lapse photo. St. Paul in double vision!

Winter moon rising
Last month I cheated a bit and posted the lunar eclipse which was not actually visible from the Twin Cities. We are at the full moon again, but this time we see it from an oddly brown St. Paul (still no significant snow).

Kome in for a kone
With our recent summery weather I can't help longing for a night at the State Fair. This is the last photo for this week's theme. Did you guess what it is? All will be revealed tomorrow.

Aliens
The State Fair may be over for another year but I am still marveling at the nighttime scenes (the best time to be there). Two gondolas of the Skyride (mysteriously ghostlike in this time exposure) glide right by the Ag building, all of them colored like late summer popsicles.
How did you do with last week's theme? We had winner! The correct answer was groups of three - 3 Paris tea towels, 3 riverboats, 3 funky equine bushes, 3 barges (with a break in the middle for ABC Wednesday).

Good night, moon
It's not the leaning tower at Pisa, it's the bell tower at St. Mark's south of Loring Park. Post 4 for this week. You must have guessed the theme by now - brownstones, embedded bits of buildings, rocky shoreline, church tower...

Thunderhead
One of the first of the season - missed the rain while I was in a movie but came out to that eerie post-storm light while the sun was setting. Surely there will be more.

Blue of night
The last rays of an early spring sunset reflect off the Weisman Museum in the background and the new Science Teaching building lights up the on-coming night. What a magical time of day.

Lee's Liquor Lounge
I know it says Lee's Liquor Bar but we all know it by it's more alliterative name. Tucked in an odd corner west of downtown Minneapolis near the new Twins stadium, the bar has apparently seen an upturn in its business since the Twins moved in. I say good for them. We love the music there!

Cathedral at night
I had the tremendous good fortune a few days ago to have a beautifully warm night, a gorgeous cloud-strewn sky, and a perfect high-up perch with a clear view of the Cathedral. I had to stand very still to get this shot to work since I'm not hardcore enough to carry around a tripod (I think this was my second of about fifteen shots--I should've just stopped when I got what I wanted!).

Grandview
An excellent local movie theatre. One of only two left in Saint Paul. Support your local cinema! They have such charm and are so much more convenient than driving out to the 'burbs to see a film at a cineplex. (You can see that I took this picture about a couple years ago because of the movies that are advertised...still one of my favorite shots of one of my Saint Paul neighborhoods.)
