Perspective
I just visited the renovated Weisman over Thanksgiving weekend, but was glad to see this monumental study of perspective (aka chicken coop) still has pride of place on one of the main walls. I love standing near this painting as people walk up and realize what it is.

Dinkytown to downtown
We've been having some pretty fine fall days here in the Twin Cities and this view of downtown Minneapolis from Dinkytown (the commercial area near the U of M campus) is proof of that. More university views here.

Q is for queue
We would say "line" in the U.S. but since we speak a form of British English (Britican? Amerish?) in our household this will do nicely for today. However, the location does not make it a candidate for this week's theme. These students are boarding a bus right in the middle of the U of M campus - not some 100 miles from the Twin Cities.

Crushers
I may have forgotten to reveal last week's theme (softball, biking, kayaking, canoeing, marathon running). You got it now - sports.
Today starts a new theme. This photo was taken in a kind of no man's land just north of University Avenue near the U of M campus where there are a lot of grain elevators/silos/warehouses. Not really sure what they are there for but maybe they have something to do with the St. Paul ag campus.

Still constructing
So much construction going on in these cities. A lot of it for the light rail line between St. Paul and Minneapolis like this bit along the Washington Avenue bridge which goes through the U of M campus. This also reminds me to schedule a visit to the Weisman which has reopened after a renovation.

Are you ready for the new theme? First post is tomorrow.

Bowling for grades
Who knew there was a bowling alley in the basement of the Student Center on the University of Minnesota's St. Paul campus? And it can't be that busy during the slow summer months. Head on over.

Ag campus art
Back to the St Paul campus of the University of Minnesota for this robust sculpture (one of three!) across from the Dairy Building. They're a magnet for lunchtime romps. Apparently, the sculptor has installed a series of these in Thailand, too. I'd love to see them all.

Design a dress
I've been spending some time on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota in McNeal Hall which houses the College of Design and the Goldstein Museum of Design. I guess this room is the incubator, as it were.

Rokker
Come to a spot on the lawn between Jones, Williamson, and Folwell Halls on the University of Minnesota campus to get an up close view of Rokker V installed in the early 1980s to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the U Alumni Association.

Blue of night
The last rays of an early spring sunset reflect off the Weisman Museum in the background and the new Science Teaching building lights up the on-coming night. What a magical time of day.

Student activism
Not surprising that students at the U might be on the march again given the recent events in neighboring Wisconsin and the proposals in our legislature to slash education budgets.

Theme day: Edgy edge
This odd building on the University of Minnesota campus seemed to fit the bill for the April Theme Day. One entire side is made up of a series of rough, unfinished edges and the other a line of windows. It hardly looks like a building at all from this angle.

Eat mi, drink mi, bun mi
This tiny, popular lunch spot on the University of Minnesota campus packs them in with people on the left waiting to pay and people on the right waiting for their food. I was squeezed at a small table between the two lines. Good pork sandwich!
