ABC Wednesday: E is for Edibles
The alleyways in my neighborhood make good use of south-facing garage walls with baskets of hanging tomato plants. And, they're ripening up about now. More ABC Wednesday entries here.

P is for pretty in pink
Early spring weather has brought the tulips out. These, from my front garden, are almost gone now so I was glad to capture them when they were at their finest.

Last tomato
The fourth post for this week's theme - the final tomato of the season? We're getting close to our first frost so these won't last much longer.

M is for Morning Glory
My dad was recently relating a story about the morning glories his grandmother grew to shelter her front porch. Look what I found as I was biking to my hair appointment one glorious fall morning. To see more photos of M, click here.

Harvest time
They'll be wrapping up the fall harvest soon at Fort Snelling and cooking up a storm with all that wonderful produce.

Fantasy foals
These prancers were drawing curious crowds at the Minnesota State Fair a couple of weeks ago. Wouldn't it be fun to have them growing in your front yard? We're back to the mystery theme today - Monday was the Paris tea towels, Tuesday the riverboats, now this. What's your best guess?

I is for Iris
Taking a little pause from this week's theme - remember the Paris tea towels and the Mississippi riverboats for when we pick up the mystery again on Thursday - to join the ABC Wednesday project for the first time. Irises are an earlier bloomer so you won't see any of these in my front yard or anywhere else around here right now. Come back next spring for these beauties.

Busy as a ...
The final post for this week's theme is in a neighborhood garden (and surely you have it by now). Check out Monday-Friday to see the other posts. I'll reveal the theme tomorrow.

Road to the cabin
Did you go or are you going to a cabin this summer? If so, your journey will look like this at some point. Post #3. Any ideas about the theme this week?

Yin and yang of Minnesota's climate
If you've been following this blog, you may recognize this location from the winter (Loring Park). Then again, the images seem like they must be from different countries. Ah, Minnesota!
And the theme for the past week's posts was ... edible! I know some of the objects were not actually edible, but hey, they were fun. To see them again, start with What a corny idea! in the archives and view the next four posts.

Summer storm damage
Straight line winds hit eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin in early July and the damage along the Namekagon River where I was canoeing a week ago was extensive and heartbreaking.
This past week's theme was ... yellow. Look back on the Monday-Friday posts (mushroom, VW bug, parking ramp sign, etc) and you'll see the connection. A new theme starts Monday.

Eat me (?)
I don't know if this one is edible, but it works perfectly for the final post for this week's theme. I was out canoeing recently and the woods have a bounty, if you know what you're doing.

St. Paul's Lady Liberty
The elm trees that once gracefully lined the residential streets of St. Paul have been dying since the 1970s but sometimes they end up as garden sculpture. This one is appropriate for today's posting.

Nymphaea gigantea
I was at Como Park on a blustery summer day - though I usually think of winter days as being blustery - and the waterlilies in the pond outside the Conservatory were battling the breezes.

Mellow yellow
I love this spring color but why is it that the tulip makes it classy whereas the dandelion makes it tacky?

Community garden
They're all over town sometimes popping up in unexpected places. This one took over a section of the parking lot at the Gateway bike trailhead.
